There was a recent U.S. Preventive Services Task Force report that recommended against screening men age 75 and older. I assert this is pure bunk and is a disservice to older men. In 2004, at age 75, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer (Gleason 9) and treated (radiation plus hormonal therapy). I am still here, feeling fine, with PSA level and not increasing. I have no leftover effects from the radiation and only negligible effcts from the hormonal therapy. I continue to bask in the love of my beloved wife of 52 years, Regine, and my children and grandchildren. The task Force would have deprived me of this simply because they think men over 75 are not worth the trouble to keep alive. Without testing and treatment, I would not be here today.

Hi Manuel, I love reading your story. It is truly encouraging. God bless you and your family always. Keep on fighting the good fight and encourage other people. I found a website that might interests you, Bakersfield Oncologists. it's a website of oncologists and will be able to answer your questions in the future.
