This year marks the tenth anniversary of Saks Fifth Avenue's "Key To The Cure" program, a public service campaign and fundraising event benefiting women's cancer research throughout the United States, including research on early detection through The Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund. Each October, Saks commissions and sells a specially designed, limited-edition “Key To The Cure” t-shirt to support the initiative, in addition to contributing a percentage of all sales over one weekend in every Saks store nationwide. Mercedes-Benz, a national sponsor since 2001, also contributes to the cause by producing a limited edition automobile sold at Mercedes-Benz dealerships throughout the country. Since the inception of this annual charity shopping weekend in 1999, together with its vendors and partners, Saks Fifth Avenue has raised more than $28 million to combat women's cancers.
Organizations benefiting from these funds include EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund; The Breast Cancer Research Foundation; the Cleveland Clinic; Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; the Nevada Cancer Institute; and many others.
Saks Fifth Avenue operates 54 full-line stores in 25 states, three licensed stores in Mexico City, Dubai and Riyadh, 49 Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and saks.com, the company’s online store.
